Erica Millar Design is an award winning New York City based interior design firm specializing in high-end residential projects. EMD’s work spans a variety of aesthetic styles and is known for its understated elegance and timelessness.
Each project opportunity is approached holistically, engaging the client and addressing individual lifestyle. Drawing on her long standing collaborations with select artisans, Erica frequently creates bespoke finishes and furnishings that expressly respond to a client. Erica’s cultivated resources and knowledge of fine and decorative arts brings a characteristically unique balance of contemporary and historic references to her work. The results are comfortable, easy, beautiful spaces that reflect her clients’ personalities.
EMD is versed in all residential project types, whether renovation or new construction. EMD works closely and seamlessly with builders and architects, and frequently in collaboration with Erica’s husband, Russell Riccardi, of Russell Riccardi Architect. EMD’s expertise is evident in the whole project from design inception through construction.
Erica studied fine arts at Sarah Lawrence College. Prior to founding her firm in 1988, her early work experience included the offices of Frank O. Gehry, Robert A.M. Stern, Ward Bennett and Kohn Pederson Fox.
